Public Works Academy

The Connecticut Public Works Academy is an introductory level training program for those public works staff that are new to public works and road maintenance. It is also an excellent opportunity to provide updated information on the latest in best practice and technologies to those employees new to professional development. 2016 Spring Public Works Academy Brochure, 2016 Fall Public Works Academy Brochure.

The program is comprised of a series of six (6) weekly sessions aimed at providing education on those core competencies necesssary to be a successful public works professional. These sessions cover the following topics:

Professionalism & Communication Skills

Chainsaw Safety & Storm Clean-up Issues

Road Fundamentals

Operational Safety for Public Works

Basic Work Zone Safety and Flagger Certification

Safe Operation of a Snow Plow and Winter Operations and Sander Calibration


Participants are required to complete all six (6) sessions in order to complete the Academy.
